Calculate Your Impact

Calculations are estimates of the environmental benefits from recycling eligible drink containers through CDS Vic. The calculators use a model that predicts savings in energy, carbon emissions, water and fossil fuel compared to using virgin materials to make new aluminium, plastic or glass drink containers . Results are not actual environmental outcomes and should be always understood and communicated with this context.

Our calculators were prepared by Lifecycles, using metrics developed in a life cycle assessment (LCA) that reviewed the collection and transport of eligible drink containers returned within CDS Vic using sample data, averages and further data from public literature.

The LCA, Life Cycle Assessment of Victoria’s Container Deposit Scheme was conducted by Lifecycles (by Boyden A., and Visser R.K). The final report was provided on 30 July 2026. The LCA was peer reviewed by Blue Environment in July 2026.
